(drum roll… ) How to teach functions! Functions are a basic concept of algebra. The concept of taking two groups of information and relating them. We do it in every day life. Such as the price of gas and the number of gallons your car needs. Or perhaps on the more spiritual point of things – how many chapters in the Bible you read a day. They are both simple functions. The fun begins when you take the information and create a formula and then graph it.
Ah, now to ponder the topic of Direct Variation and how best to teach it.
