I thought it was about time to post a bit of my poetry again. I don’t do it much; that is I don’t write it much and I rarely post it. Enjoy.
Eye has not seen, Ear has not heard by Amanda Smith
A dream, a fantastic vision passed before my eyes
I was in darkness
Lost in grey, stumbling, fall broken with sharp stubbly ground
Heaviness fell upon me, In fear and pain I cried out, Lord help!
A voice from I knew not spoke
Follow me, I am the way, the truth and the life
I listened and I ran, sometimes crawled
Following, yearning, throwing off what hindered and entangled
A fog, everywhere I looked it was grey, where am I going?
Revelation, inspiration, He spoke within me
Looking for a city, whose maker and builder is God
For ages I sought, hoping for the unseen
A sharp wind blew awakening my senses
A curtain was drawn and I saw
I stood on a mountainside
Before and behind was darkness but,
Before my eyes yet a few feet stretched the most beautiful, glorious vision
Colors of a sun beyond imagining, life breathed from every tree
Deep purples and blues of the lakes laughed
The flowers murmured their approval and broke into song
No more death, no more sorrow, no more crying and no more pain
Miles and miles the vision continued and I saw
The great city, the holy Jerusalem, adorned with precious stones
Shining of gold and light as clear as crystal
Perspective was given me as I returned to the shadow-lands
To the valley of the shadow of death
A few feet of darkness for thousands of miles of light
A moment to suffer for the ecstasy of eternity
This is a light affliction, a passing moment
Life is a vapor
We’ve got a minute
